DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening at the Dunedin History Museum as we celebrate the opening of our seasonal exhibition\, Freedom in Focus: Florida’s Legacy of Liberty for America 250. \nOn this opening night\, guests are invited to experience the debut of this dynamic exhibit exploring the foundations of American democracy—from the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution to the evolution of Florida’s Constitution. Through engaging displays\, interactive elements\, and a compelling historical timeline\, the exhibition brings the story of liberty to life in a meaningful and accessible way. \nAs part of the evening\, attendees will be among the first to participate in the launch of our community signing of the Declaration of Independence\, a traveling initiative that will continue at the Dunedin Public Library and City Hall. DESCRIPTION:Step into history as we bring the Revolutionary era to life through a dynamic and immersive reenactment experience at Andrews Memorial Chapel. \nDoors open at 11 AM at Hammock Park\, where guests are invited to explore an interactive Revolutionary War encampment. The campsite will feature British soldiers from the King’s 60th Regiment and Brown’s East Florida Loyalists\, offering a unique perspective on those who fought against the Patriots. Visitors can also step inside George Washington’s headquarters tent and experience daily life during the war through engaging activities\, including marching and musket firing demonstrations\, candle making\, and period toy activities. \nThis special event will feature a live reenactment of the signing of the Declaration of Independence\, “A Conversation Before Signing\,” written by Michael Cote. Portraying George Washington is Steve Beaty\, Chair of the Dunedin History Museum Board\, bringing added depth and local connection to this powerful moment in history. The performance captures the tension\, significance\, and spirit of one of the most defining moments in American history.
