| Jul 6, 2010 | Tue | | | HISTORY CAMP AT THE MUSEUM FOR AGES 9-11 | | From July 6 to July 9 the Museum will have its annual summer History Camp. Camp each day will be 10 am to 2 pm. A very popular camp that teaches kids about how museums prepare artifacts for exhibits as well as "hands on experience" with archaeology techniques. On friday, campers will be going to Weedon Island Preserve to tour archaeology sites. Camp fee - $75 for current Pioneer Club Members/ $100 for non members. Free to the public | | Richard Powell bought two shares in Mel Fisher's treasure-hunting venture, getting a share of the "booty" when it was discovered in 1985. The wealth from the Atocha, a Spanish ship laden with over $1.5 million in riches in 1622, is now estimated to be worth over $400 million. Mr. Powell will talk about the treasure and his adventures as an investor, as well as show video of the "booty" in the Mel Fisher Museum just after it was retrieved.
